REM detection with versatile sleep system - for improved view of sleep behaviour

Oxford UK, 7th March 2002 - New BioSleep v4.0 offers REM detection with a single channel. This innovative neural network-based sleep analysis system records EEG with from an electrode in the EOG position. Or, the user can analyse EEG recorded in the central, frontal or mastoid position for increased versatility.

The improved precision in detecting latency represents an important advance over existing automated scoring systems for a more accurate estimation of sleep time. By analysing sleep on a second-by-second basis, BioSleep detects micro-arousals accurately and average time awake compares favourably with expert scoring. BioSleep v4.0 provides good-quality, consistent evaluation of sleep patterns recorded in non-controlled environments.

The ability to study sleep along a continuum marks a significant advance in quantitative sleep analysis.
