Portable sleep lab expertise

Oxford BioSignals Ltd, Oxford UK, announces BioSomnia Plus. A further development of the BioSomnia product range, BioSomnia Plus provides a hypnogram for the easier assessment of sleep macrostructure and microstructure including microarousals and microsleeps.

Sleep disturbance is being associated with cardiovascular disease, an increase in road accidents, asthma, stroke and a substantial loss of productivity.

Designed to support the diagnosis and therapy of sleep disorders, the lightweight, battery-powered monitor continuously analyses a single-channel of brainwaves (rather than the conventional single channel plus 3 ancillary channels) using patented neural network technology.

In addition to the use of only a single channel, electrodes can be placed out of the hairline therefore making the system ideal for application by non-specialists and for use in non-laboratory settings.

First-time sufferers of sleep complaints can be quickly assessed and the efficacy of ongoing treatment programs can be evaluated without the need for costly and daunting sleep laboratory admissions.

BioSomnia Plus is “a useful tool for differentiating sleep and wakefulness”. Physicians can, for the first time, obtain objective measures, in both graphical and statistical format, of their patient’s sleep patterns whilst monitoring them in the most appropriate environment.
